Yvonne Buza Appointed Chair of SA Aboriginal Peak Body for a Second Term

At its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 9 February 2010, the Aboriginal Health Council of SA Inc. re-elected Yvonne Buza as Chairperson for a second term.
Ms Buza said, “I am truly honored to serve the Aboriginal Health Council of SA Inc. for a second term. Together, we accomplished many great achievements last year and I look forward to consolidating on these and assisting the Council to enjoy new successes this year.
“Our major focus again this year will be on representing our members who come from health and substance misuse services, and Aboriginal health advisory committees in South Australia at a state and national level.”

Ms Buza and Mr John Singer will represent members on the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation Board.
On behalf of the Aboriginal Health Council of SA Inc. and its members, Chief Executive Officer Mary Buckskin congratulates Ms Buza, saying her extensive experience in community involvement is invaluable to the role of Chairperson.
Yvonne Buza has been a member of the Kalaya Roxby & Districts Aboriginal Community Action Group, has worked closely with the SA Aboriginal Health Partnership, is Chairperson of the Northern Aboriginal Health Advisory Committee, and member of the Country Health SA Forum and CHSA Board HAC, Statewide Aboriginal Women’s Group, and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
Over recent years, Yvonne has made it her business to become familiar with and responsive to the health needs of isolated South Australian Aboriginal communities within the Port Augusta Sub Region as well as other Aboriginal health groups and centres in the broader communities of the northern boundaries including Whyalla, Coober Pedy, Hawker, Quorn, Leigh Creek, Roxby Downs, Woomera, Andamooka, Marree, Oodnadatta and all pastoral homelands.
